The SMD AGM took place on Wednesday January 25th 2012 at the Viaduct Inn, Bandon Rd, Cork. The AGM was preceded by a lecture by Dr Alan Ringland of Paralympics Ireland, on the theme “The Challenge of Harmony between horse and rider from a psychological perspective” and the Autumn League Bursaries were presented afterwards.

In view of her recent (temporary) move to France, Martine Greenlee, Chairwoman for the previous 3 years, decided to step down from that role. As regional Chair, Martine had been very active, both in organising shows and training in the South Munster region and in resurrecting the near-moribund Silver Spurs scheme and running it nationwide for the last three years, together with Naomi Donoghue. As Martine takes a well-deserved break, the Committee wishes her well on her French adventure.

Taking on the challenge of chairing the region, Michelle Marshall, a Dressage Ireland member for the last four years, currently competes at Novice and Elementary Levels and hopes to progress further. Having worked in the racing/thoroughbred industry for the past 25 years, she is currently the stud manager at Monymusk Stud, a private Stud, in Kanturk, Co Cork. Previous to this, she worked in both Flat and National Hunt Yards all over the world, including a spell as a track work rider in Australia for a number of years where she was lucky enough to become involved with showjumping at a very high level. She served as a groom for the Australian team at the World Equestrian Games in Rome in 1998. Michelle held an Amateur Jockey's licence in Ireland for a number of years. She also found time to earn herself a BSc Degree in Equine Science from U.L.

As Chairwoman, Michelle hopes to help South Munster Dressage and its members to develop in a positive and progressive fashion.
